An anonymous review from Princeton via e-mail. I do not feel at liberty to reveal the person’s name. Kind of a confidentiality code I follow.

Hey,

I saw your show at Princeton High School, and I was so deeply moved. When they
told us we were going to see a show about drugs i thought "another one of
those boring lectures" but this was nothing lkike what i expected. the way
you portrayed those characters was just so accurate. i have never exactly gone
through stuff as bad as what is in the show, but i do have friends who are on
drugs, and their attitude is just like the characters. the show gave me even more
confidence than ever to say no to drugs. last year i was on the verge of experimenting
with weed and this year, although i;m not that interested sometimes i just think
"why not?".

So, all I wanted to say was that i have never seen a more moving or direct show
on drugs. I hope the show had as much impact on other people as it did on me.
Because if everybody could see your show, i’m pretty sure there would be a lot
less drug abuse.

thank you,
name witheld

What a day in Princeton. Performed for freshman at noon and parents at night. In between and amidst all this I got to hang around town and take some pictures of this place. As a Bostonian I would say Princeton is part Harvard Sq, part Newbury St., and part bohemian Northampton. Very cool place. It was cold and rainy and grey but I love those kind of days. Took a picture in front of this mammoth George Washington (”…The Founder of our Like city man…” ) statue to capture the spirit of the moment.

But the highlight was hangin with the people at Corner House. What a great group of peer leaders. Young people giving of their time to try and make the world a better place. Of course the amazing spirit of the counseling center and its kids filters down from Gary and Wendy. Great people who really did go above and beyond to make sure that I felt at home and to make sure the show and its message would have optimum impact. It was a very emotional experience seeing the center and reflecting on my past and my brother…I just wish there were places like this everywhere…and it sure would have been great to have people like that around me when I was growing up. In short everyone at Corner House are shining stars and angels. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Just a quick note. I published some more reviews in front of this if you scroll down. What did i do this weekend.
I’m reading a great book by sci-fi writer William Gibson called “Pattern Recognition.” The main character is a woman involved in trying to find the author of mysterious video footage that keeps showing up on the internet. She is one of thousands world wide who go to chats, message boards and forums who try to assemble a “pattern” to the seemingly unrelated video clips. I was moved by the idea of people coming together to find some kind of meaning to something which seems so dynamic and out of control. I live in a neighborhood which was once “nice”. Over the past week I have seen a hit and run. Been yelled at by a cop for trying to help. Seen broken bottles chucked at houses. Heard fights at midnight. today I saw a guy steal a parking space from an old lady in a minivan. Its bad out there. The high water is rising. There is a flood of apathy and cruelty out there. But I must not stop caring. As my good friend mykee says…”I’M STILL HERE!” We must find a way to see that the evils of this world are not just “out there” but in our hearts..”in here”. When we see that…We are able to do what we can on a personal level every day to try and swim and tread the high water rising and overcome our own inner evils with love. After that all it takes is a simple smile to a stranger. A door being held for someone. Or standing up against inconsiderate people and saying “hey man…what you did was wrong” Do what you can. Accept the things you cannot change and have courage to changs the things you can….where have I heard that? Gotta go

Hi, I don’t know if you remember me, but I am a student at Cherry Hill and I came up and asked you if you had a website after your show. I was so touched by your performance. Your characters are so believable and I was moved to tears when I found out the story behind Dirt. Last year I was severely depressed and did marijuana every once in awhile to make myself feel better. One miserable day of my life, I also did LSD. I stopped for awhile, but recently I’ve been feeling like I want to go back to doing pot. Your assembly really made me realize what could happen to me if I keep hanging around with those people and doing the things I did. Not only was your assembly informative about drug and alcohol abuse, but it also revived my love for stand up comedy. This might sound strange, but your assembly gave me energy. I laughed so hard for the first time in months. Thank you so much, Mr. Morello.

John,

We spoke briefly after you last show at Pennsauken High School. Thank-you for sharing part of your life and your story with us. You without a doubt made a BIG difference. I have heard nothing but fantastic reports about the message. One in particular that cut deep at “the root”. You have a powerful message. Once again - thank you
