I’m younger than that now
I updated my bio page & reviews page on my web site.
Had a cup of tea this morning.

All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsions, habit, reason, passion, desire.

Usually I exclusively quote Dylan. Today is special. This is a popular song lyric that goes out to a certain someone that knows who they are. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being.
“Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you’ve done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.
Don’t stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here,
It’ll be, better than before,
Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone.”

So the bankruptcy bill pased…not really shocking.
But what was shocking to me was the ammendment which was proposed to look out for single mothers…was rejected.
Rejected:
By 41 yeas to 58 nays (Vote No. 36), Dodd (for Kennedy) Amendment No. 70, to exempt debtors whose financial problems were caused by failure to D216receive alimony or child support, or both, from means testing.
In a related story I thought of a quote I once heard
“I’m a compassionate conservative” -GW
I also thought of this quote that has always sustained me.
1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol.
And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains,
but have not love, I am nothing.
And if I dole out all my goods, and
if I deliver my body that I may boast
but have not love, nothing I am profited.
Love is long suffering,
love is kind,
it is not jealous,
love does not boast,
it is not inflated.
It is not discourteous,
it is not selfish,
it is not irritable,
it does not enumerate the evil.
It does not rejoice over the wrong, but rejoices in the truth
It covers all things,
it has faith for all things,
it hopes in all things,
it endures in all things.
Gnight.
All except inside the Gates of Eden”
Gates Of Eden-Bob Dylan
Effexor Warning.
Antidepressants have helped millions…but Effexor is not like Prozac or Zoloft. It is currently the number two prescribed antidepressant and apparently it is habit forming and can cause some serious withdrawls. I posted a link to an interesting article. Read it for what its worth.
We have become a little closer to Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World.” Tonight I was at the gym and watched Extreme Makeover take a guy and turn him into some hollywood clone. On the TV next to it was Survivor. “Normal” people acting like idiots for 15 minutes of fame and a milion dollars. Interesting that all the people on Survivor, male and female, have washboard abs and look like Abercrombie models. I predict the kid from Extreme Makeover will be on the next season. He’ll fit right in now. And if he doesnt make it he just may slip into depression and we can prescribe him some SOMA…I mean Effexor. And if he gets hooked we can all see him kick on the new reality series “Intervention.”
Sleep well kiddies. I think I see a pale horse and some dude just blew a trumpet.
Ain’t complaining ’bout what I got, Seen better times, but who has not?”

Hi everyone. First off I have been flodded with emails from Illinois. I plan on writing most of you personally as soon as I get my head together and focus on it… hopefully tomorrow. I think of you all and I pray that we will all find the grace to continue to do the things we are called to do…and be the people that we are destined to be. Ya know that destiny thing right? Its that little voice inside that never leaves you. Even if your mom and dad and all your friends desert…that DESTINY thing will carry you. For some that destiny is in the heart of God. For some its another higher power. But let us all have the strength and courage to face our addictions and the challenges that it brings our families. You are not alone. You are not a “bad person” if you are an addict. Stay strong and may the transparent fog of isolation, fear, and confusion be blown away. Sweet clarity. Sweet sweet clarity!
I did a show at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. I love that school because the students are so open and respectful and theres a woman named Eileen that is one of the coolest people on this earth. She visited with an ex-student today while I observed…And you can just see the love and care she has for her students and her job. Anyway I got a standing O today. I felt that the readind of the “connected” poem at the end was the best I ever read it. I was on fire:-) I walked off the stage and threw my visor backwards without looking…and it landed right on the chair that it was supposed…(booooowip) Patrick Ewing would have been proud. He’s an alum of the school for those who have been living under a rock:-)
“God give me the serenity to accept things which cannot be changed;
Give me courage to change things which must be changed;
And the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.”
Somethings you can change.
Go to the links below to see your government at work. Basically YOUR senate is passing a bill making it harder for people to file for bankruptcy. This benefits the banks and credit companies. It hurts you and me. The VAST MAJORITY of bankruptcy cases come from unpaid medical bills and divorce type situations. Tomorrow your governemt plans to vote on some serious stuff that AFFECTS you. Call your senator and let them know how you feel. read the links below and let your voice be heard. I mean I have always wanted to go back in time and I have always wanted to visit England. But recreating Charles Dickens world of feast or famine is not how I wanted to do it.
I mean we all complain about how things are and so often its because our government works in secrets and passes crazy laws and policies under the radar. March 10th is one of those days where stuff will be flying under the radar. If you don’t believe me watch Cspan. Tomorrow the VP and the senate are going to try and make it illegal for senators to fillibuster and debate people that the president nominates to judgeships. That is the foundation of our governement. Debate and dissension. Republicans fillibustered when Clinton was president. Its a constitutional right. Its especially important for judicial nominations. Think of it this way….When they debate and fillibuster over a law/bill being passed…its like “oh well even if we don’t stop it we can always someday maybe get enough support to overturn it.” But with a judicial appointment…its for LIFE. Once that judge has his seat…He will make laws for you and me….forever. Regardless of your political persuasion you should realize that the way to make change is to debate and engage the public…Not force them on the public by changing the laws under their nose.
So read below and act as your heart tells you
This is the guy that the president is trying to make a judge
This is where you can find your senator and contact them. Do it. They dig
it:-)
Its about 4 people as mighty and strong as the points on a compass.
Its about Ottawa illinois
Its about seeing kids in need and doing something about it.
Its about perseverance.
Its about believing in the ability of a human being to overcome circumstances that most people in this country would never understand.
Its about looking in a kids eye everyday and having that kid tell you he doesnt know if they want to live…and then you punch the clock and go home and supposedly leave your work behind.
Its about my time in ottawa illinois.
Its about 12 am and I’m humbled and laid low.
Its about 4 years that I’ve done this show and close to a million people have seen it and there have been hundreds and hundreds of shows…And theres something about Ottawa that will never leave me.
Its about a scruffy 7th grade boy who looks you in the eye and says “this show hit me…and changed the way I think.”
Its about a student who sees every one of their family members on drugs and feels like they are losing control.
Its about a beautiful town filled with friendly people who are tired of losing their kids.
Its about wanting to make someones choices for them and living in confusion and doubt and wondering if you are doing all you can.
Its about hard work.
Its about having the faith to do something about it.
Its about the hope that our actions and words can make a difference even though we feel like we fall so short.
Its about love.
Its about looking deeply with all the comapassion of the buddha.
Its about corinthinans 13.
Its about Trish.
Its about Jeff.
Its about Doug.
Its about John.
Its about Ottawa illinois.
Its about a man sitting outside after it all died down. How he noticed the sky was a perfect blue canvas for the Picasso strokes of vapor trails and migrant birds. Thousands of birds like he never saw before. This was beyond anything he had seen on discovery channel and the birds kept coming and going by. 10 seconds. 1 minute. 5 minutes of non stop birds. As this wonderment started to seem normal and all part of earths plan he noticed one bird apart from the rest probably about 1/4 mile away from the rest of the bird traffic flow. Was this also part of the earths plan? A bird that was lost and had not kept up? It wasn’t injured. It was either lost or maybe taken his eye off the flock for too long and was scrambling to get back or it was done with its vacation and was rejoining the rest that didn’t know how to really fly. Either way it caught back up again. He just had to have faith the bird was gonna fly and make it home. As he sat down on the picnic table and read the initials of the previous hotel guests he thought of home and his wife, his dog, and his chair. They waited for him. The time flew by and its about that time.
But it was all about Ottawa Illinois.
