But my heart is not weary, it’s light and it’s free, I’ve got nothin’ but affection for all those who’ve sailed with me
Where I am:
Warrenville, Illinois. Did a show today for Lisle high School. Tomorrow I go to meet with some cool folks in Ottawa.
What I’m driving:
-Mazda 3 5-door. Orange
What I’m reading:
-”Magical Thinking” by Augusten Burroughs
-Some Atlantic Monthly article by a frenchman retracing Alexis Tocqueville’s journey through America.
What I’m watching:
-Cspan-House of Representatives debating the 80 billion supplemental. Praying that no democrats “vote for it….before they vote against it.”
-British Election results on Cspan. Looks like tony got a “mandate” too.
-TNT-NBA playoffs. Celtics win game 6

What I’m thinking:
Thinking of getting home and sitting on the grass in my yard and feeling the sun on skin.
Thinkin of the new show I’m writing.
Thinkin of my wife.
Thinkin of my family.
thinkin of my dog.
thinkin of the future.
thinkin of the kid I met today who has been through so much and is pressing on and gonna graduate and own his own car shop and someday design the ultimate hybrid vehicle so that we can save gas and not have to send kids like him to iraq to die for frickin oil.
thinkin of Newman Grove Nebraska and the gas out there has ethanol in it. Its a form of fuel from…Corn. We can grow our own fuel. If only we had politicians with a vision. The republicans are not even on the same page as America and the democrats have YET to articulate any kind of vision or policy. Both parties suck. We forget that these politicians work for US. Instead its us working for them…Its bass ackwards brothers and sisters. These politicians are supposed to work for US. I have faith in the young people I meet. I have faith in the parent network of Ottawa illinois who said enough is enough…WE WILL make a difference ’cause nobody else will do it for us. I have faith in Jake in Lisle. I have faith in Steve in Lisle.
I pray for revolution daily. We are so close to Dickensian England and the class divide of the french revolution…Let the revolution come now. Get out of the new road BLAH BLAH BLAH.
I’m thinking of the rock group u2. I’ve seen them several times and I know that Bono has made an incredible commitment to world poverty…And thats amazing. Especially when I see so many celebrities “donating” their beautiful faces to TV commercials to talk about world hunger…But U2.. Now I think they are sellouts. In 1990 and 91 they got up in front of millions and protested the persian gulf war waged by 41. NOW we are in the era of the dixie chicks losing money for making a politcal slip. We are in the era where Bill Maher gets fired from ABC. So U2 has decided to go mute on political statements. Where they once conquered america and sang about the “arms of america”…Now they have pandered to america. They waived flags at the superbowl and have made their most religous album EVER and have not said one word about the war in iraq which has killed 1500 americans and over 150,000 iraqis. They know where there bread is buttered. They will not crap where they eat. They will not challenge their audience…rather they will help them fall asleep. “Sleeeeeep. Sleeeeeeep toniiiight. And may your dreams be realized”
I’m thinkin I sound bitter when I reread the above paragraph.
I’m thinkin I’m just upset to see my country fall so short and I need to vent.
I’m thinkin I been on the road to long.
I’m thinkin about this HUGE building I saw today owned by Lucent Technolgy. It was about 3 football fields wide and made of glass with a huge satellite looking foyer. Technology at its fullest. Sprawled across the front lawn of this property was shiny glass and pavement…and then a pond. Near the pond was a goose. He was pretty cool looking. A few of his goose buddies were far off but this goose was just wandering. He arched his neck into a perfect question mark silhouetted by the glass and metal that threatened his pond. I took a picture of him. I told him I would try to get people to go veggie. He winked at me and went to his buddy in the pond. Two hours later I was driving home from Best Buy and these two geese flew over me in perfect formation. I think I saw one of them signal to the other in Goose sign language-”David Bowie….Nice choice!”
I’m thinkin that its time to go to sleep.
