Book the show “Dirt” or else…

Posted in General by John

Allow me to be like the father in moonstruck. He’s a plumber and on a sales call and he says

“There are two kinds of pipe. There is brass which is junk. Its cheap…sure. But in the end its garbage”
“And then there is copper. Copper lasts forever. Its what I use. It costs more but it lasts forever. It costs money ’cause it saaaves yoou money”

Very funny scene. Anyway I was thinkin’ back on the “drug speakers” we had in high school and thinkin’ about some of the other “drug speakers” I see at conferences. I was thinkin about the cliches. The presentations. The scare tactics. Its wicked sad and yet pretty comical at times. So now allow me to be the plumber and a little sarcastic and facetious. Oh sure you can book one of these other fancy skilled presenters or you can book me. Not to scare you….but if you book one of those other presenters…They will probably be like the video below. heh heh heh moo ha ha

Music and Drugs

Posted in General by John

Sometimes people say that without drugs music would have been different. The Beatles. Pink Floyd. Dylan. Grateful dead. Radiohead. Bob Marley. Many people point to these people and say drugs are/were essential to their recording or listening. I tend to disagree. Although it is undeniable that drugs happened to be present for certain albums and songs in periods of the great artists we love…I always imagine that these people were so damn creative that they would have created the same art without it. If perhaps they could have focused and meditated without the drugs they would have ceratinly been able to not only create the same music but they would have been able to do it over a longer period of time. Hendrix. Morrison. Joplin. Cobain. Layne Staley of Alice In Chains. Sublime…That list is endless.

I was just thinking of these things because I saw this video on youtube that really bummed me out. It was video of Johnny Cash on the Pete Seeger show back in the 1960’s….totally strung out. You can see not only what drugs have done to him but this sad awkward smile from his wife as she is put into a horrible situation on national TV. After a while the cameras just stay off of him. Check this out.

Video Podcasts

Posted in General by John

I had a ton of emails and comments and questions. For the ease of my workload and hopefully the benefit of all I decided NOT to respond to everything by email. I decided I felt like talking and not typing. So welcome to “John’s Bag of email”. I responded thru Youtube to save on my webspace server and it took 4 files to do it. Below I have embedded them. enjoy. cringe. suffer. laugh. learn. eat pop tarts.

Every Picture Tells A Story

Posted in General by John

So “we” won?
Beginning of the end?
Democrats now rule.
Bush fires Rumsfeld.
Speeches.
Pundits.
Interviews.
Daily Show.
Rush Limbaugh.
Words.
Votes.
Ideas.
Its all fun and games.
All’s fair…blah blah blah.
Celebrate?
Laugh?
Bush said he waited to fire Rumsfeld becuase of the election.
He delayed doing the right thing because of power.
Most Democrats waited for “power” to speak up.
If it was about the war why did Lieberman, THE HAWK, get re-elected.
A bittersweet day.
Think of a time when you lost someone.
How lonely was that next holiday without them?
How empty was your heart?
How grey was their birthday the next time around?
Think of thanksgiving with your family this year.
Now imagine someone missing.
Imagine your brother or sister with no face. Or no arm.
Now wake up and realize your imaginations and daydreams are…
REAL for nearly 30,000 (dead and wounded) in the US.
For over 150,000 in Iraq.
We “won.”
yay.
too late.
