FOX NeWs? Racism & Metal Health. Bang your head Barack!

As a teenage metal-head and someone who once sneaked into the back of a record store to meet Quiet Riot I was PSYCHED to hear Barack Obama discuss them today.
FROM THE AP NEWS COURTESY OF THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Tuesday that the Bush administration has done nothing to defuse a “quiet riot” among blacks that threatens to erupt just as riots in Los Angeles did 15 years ago…”Those ‘quiet riots’ that take place every day are born from the same place as the fires and the destruction and the police decked out in riot gear and the deaths,” Obama said. “They happen when a sense of disconnect settles in and hope dissipates. Despair takes hold and young people all across this country look at the way the world is and believe that things are never going to get any better.”
I think I might vote for him. Right now I think the only one with %100 honesty and the only one who I am totally in agreement with on everything is Dennis Kucinich. But Barak’s speech touched on some great stuff and if you don’t believe that what he says is true. Take a walk into your nearby “black” neighborhood and talk to some people…Or hey just watch the experts at Fox News. I know that all of the TV news people are far from being journalists or unbiased. But it seems Fox News’ offenses are the most egregious. What we need more of are journalists to investigate the journalists. There are some great blogs that do this. Media matters, Crooks & Liars, and todays best Talking Points Memo
Today they spotted a HUUUGE mistake on Fox. A mistake that reveals a teachable moment about the state of Race in America. Watch the clip below.
All for now. For those of you out there that have no idea what that weird straight jacket picture above is from…Well, allow me to educate you. Play the file below. Let me show you what people like myself and my pal Mykee were listening too when we were 13. The sad part is that Mykee STILL listens to this song…DAILY!

OK, so a news media got something wrong.
Happens everyday.
Is this a fox news thing?
bad news media, bad.
what does the everyday person care when channel 6 complains about channel 5, nothing
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
The ratings bear that out.
Yes, that was a big scoop, send it to olberman, that’s what his show is all about. Or CNN, nah
And you, your a blogger, what does that exactly mean anyway, so you write blogs,
and…slow down helping humanity, the way that most of the bloggers do, is just too much. thanks
Heere let me add something that my dear old dad would say, you sound like a backfence gossip.
Blogger = backfence gossip
thanks for the forum

FOOZ,
I don’t think its just a fox thing at all. It just seems that fox is the biggest offender of the same -kind- of mistakes. Often times racial and often times glaringly slanted. And true the ratings do bear it out…Fox is like number 1 in many markets because:
1. their news is on at 10 rather than 11 which helps most of us can’t stay up so late.
2. They package their news to appeal to our fears..and our thirst for celeb. gossip. It takes thought to hear a story that requires us to know geography and sometimes government and current events can be boring…So fox, and many others, “hit us where we live” and most stories are about evil people out to get us, kidnapped prom queens, and celebrity rehabs. These are hardly exclusive to fox. But again fox is one of the worst offenders. Not really a scoop on my part since I saw the story at another site which saw it at another site…backfence..maybe? But I do feel like this type of story bears repeating to make young people aware that we must be critical of those who we used to assume would be critical for us. A free press is essential to our government and for many years was the watchdog…often telling us things we didnt _want_ to hear but something they felt we needed to hear. Now that has flipped flopped and I don’t think fearmongering and rubbernecking are methods that appeal to our better angels.
I would probably plead guilty to attempting to save humanity…Maybe I spent too many years staring at a crucifix when I was young…Maybe I watched too many Batman and Spiderman movies…Maybe I wasnt breastfed? But if exposing lies and fighting against things that do not lift us up as humanity makes me a gossip or a misguided messiah…Then I imagine that many of our teachers in our schools would be categorized the same. So I guess I’m in good company. thanks for reading and I hope you stop by often.
