More music thoughts

Over the past few days I’ve been listening to some very cool albums that make me want to expand my favorites of 08 list. Plus I’m actually doing this blog from the wordpress app on my iPhone and I wanted to try the app out. So here’s some recommendations. Little Honey by Lucinda Williams is a great album. Rock. Blues. Alt Country. Lyrically sweet and soothing. And also comical ….and a lil dirty.

Secondly I love the new kanye album 808s and Heartbreak. A lot of people trashing this record. That’s OK with me ’cause I don’t really like hip hop all that much in it’s present form and to me it means kanye is doing something right. It’s got some depth. The music is very cool and ambient and would be perfect background for er uhm nighttime excursions. It’s excellent and such a departure than the other trite noise that’s on the radio.

And lastly an album which has moved me quite a bit. It’s a band called STARS and the album us titled ” In our bedroom after the war”. It’s kind of a new wave college sound. Synth Pop pretty like belle and sebastian. Raw and unpolished like clap your hands say yeah. And a true ALBUM. I woul recommend setting aside 45 minutes and listening to it all the way through. It’s beautiful youthful pop with some great insights about complicated relationships and romance in our troubled times.
